Sturm, Ruger & Company is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2024 by releasing many of the company’s iconic models in a special anniversary edition. While many of these anniversary models, like the 10/22 and Ruger Standard, are classic firearms nearly as old as the company itself, some are more recent introductions. One such firearm is the new-for-2024 Ruger Diamond Anniversary Limited Edition SR1911.
John Browning’s iconic M1911 design was a century old when Ruger introduced its interpretation of it in 2011 with the SR1911. Starting out as an all-steel, full-size “Government” model in .45 ACP, the SR1911 family has grown to include nearly all aspects of the M1911 market. This includes “Commander” and “Officer” models, “Lightweight” models with aluminum alloy frames, target and competition versions, and expanding chamberings to include 9 mm Luger and 10 mm Auto.

As the basis for the company’s anniversary model, Ruger is using an all-steel, full-size SR1911 chambered in .45 ACP. As such, it has all the features that come standard on an SR1911, including a lightweight skeletonized trigger, skeletonized hammer and titanium firing pin, extended beavertail grip safety, extended controls, flat mainspring housing, enlarged ejection port and a safety/slide-stop plunger housing that is made integral to the frame.
The Diamond Anniversary Limited Edition SR1911 takes a standard full-size stainless steel SR1911 and gives it a special finish.
Where the Ruger Diamond Anniversary Limited Edition SR1911 stands out is in its finish. The slide and frame are made of stainless steel, which are given a matte finish. Each side of the slide features laser engraving, with a 75th Anniversary logo on top. Custom hardwood grip panels match the metal engraving. The pistol ships in a specially marked 75th Anniversary lockable case with one eight-round and one seven-round stainless-steel magazine, and a bushing wrench.
A limited edition of only 750 examples of the Ruger Diamond Anniversary SR1911 will be produced.
The Ruger Diamond Anniversary Limited Edition SR1911 has an MSRP of $1,799. Its production run will be limited to 750 pistols, and each will have a serial number prefix of “R75.” For more information, visit ruger.com.
