A Henderson, Nev., homeowner was prepared to defend themselves when an intruder broke into their residence late on the evening of Saturday, April 13.
Police were called to the home at about 9:30 p.m. after reports of a burglary in progress. When they arrived, the intruder had fled the scene. The resident had been awakened by the sound of an “unknown suspect” inside the house and opened fire, causing the suspect to run. The resident was not injured in the incident, and police are still searching for the intruder. (Las Vegas Review Journal; Henderson, Nev.; 4/15/24)

Eva McMillan of Dallas, Texas, grabbed a .32-cal. semi-automatic when she saw a prowler in her yard. Pistol in hand, she went outside to investigate, and the prowler lunged at her. Miss McMillan fired, and he started to run. She fired twice more, ran inside and called the police, who found the wounded prowler cowering on a nearby porch. (Associated Press; Dallas, Texas)
