When a full-size backpack is too much, but a lumbar pack isn’t quite enough, one in the 1800-cubic-inch range makes perfect sense. The Tasmanian Tiger Mil Ops Pack 30, just such a bag, is the result of a request from the German army for a robust, short-range “mission” pack.
Measuring 19″x11″x6″ and weighing 2 lbs., 10 ozs., it is stoutly constructed from 700-denier Cordura nylon and uses quality YKK zippers. A padded back, removable waistbelt and height-adjustable chest harness provide comfort, and both a MOLLE attachment and lacing system on the front, along with MOLLE webbing on the top, accept extra kit. Further gear organization is by way of compression straps, side pockets, a zippered lid compartment and a hydration sleeve.
