Nitecore MH25Pro 3,300 Lumen Flashlight Review

Selecting the right flashlight can be a daunting task given the plethora of excellent options available today. I have spent the past few months trying out the Nitecore MH25Pro and have come to appreciate many of its features. The MH25Pro boasts an impressive maximum output of 3,300 lumens with a beam distance of 705 meters. However, what sets it apart is its versatility, featuring an ultra-low mode emitting a modest 1 lumen, capable of lasting an incredible 650 hours when powered by the rechargeable Nitecore 5,300mAh 21700 battery. Crafted from an aluminum alloy with a sleek anodized finish, and equipped with an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating, the MH25Pro emerges as a formidable choice in the realm of flashlights.

Out of the Box

This Nitecore flashlight comes with a NITECORE 21700 5,300mAh Rechargeable lithium-ion battery, USB-C charging cable, pocket clip, lanyard, spare o-ring, and a nylon holster.

Controls

The MH25Pro is straightforward to operate. As with most flashlights, it utilizes a rear push button to turn on and off the light. There is a raised metal ridge around it which helps prevent accidental activation.

Adjusting brightness levels is also easy. Near the front, there is another rubber button that can be used to switch modes or brightness levels once the flashlight is on. Simply click it to toggle through Turbo, high, mid, and low levels. To activate the 1-lumen ultra-low setting simply hold this button down and then click the rear button. Also, on each side of the brightness button are indicators showing what light output level is currently on, and how charged the battery currently is.

Located near the front, a tactile rubber button facilitates easy mode and brightness adjustments once the flashlight is activated. A simple click cycles through the turbo, high, mid, and low levels, ensuring easy adjustment. For the unique 1-lumen ultra-low setting, a press-and-hold of this button followed by a click on the rear button is all it takes. Adding to user convenience, indicators flanking the brightness button provide real-time feedback on the current light output level and the battery’s charge status.

Battery

Fueled by a solitary 21700 high-capacity Li-ion battery, the MH25Pro delivers an outstanding runtime of up to 650 hours when set to its lowest intensity. This ensures a dependable flashlight for prolonged durations, alleviating the need for frequent battery replacements. The Nitecore battery is both removable and rechargeable. However, the housing of the MH25Pro features a USB-C port to charge the battery while still installed removing the need for a separate charger.

Brightness

The MH25Pro is bright. Featuring 3,300 lumens and 124,300 Candella, this light can reach out. Nitcore states it has a throw of 705m which seems a bit excessive. The throw is tight, but not tight enough to see things at 705m clearly. However, it will illuminate things that far and is still impressive. Testing the MH25Pro

Throughout my time with this light, it never gave me any issues. I found the 5-brightness modes to be quite useful. The ultra-low mode is nice for inside of a tent, or in emergencies where you may need the battery to last for a long time. However, the Turbo mode puts out a ridiculous 3,300 lumens. When used as an outdoor adventure sort of light, the beam pattern makes sense. It provides a good balance of field of view and throw. While the pattern is not nearly as tight as something such as a Modlite OKW, it can still illuminate things at a good distance. The rechargeable battery is also a much-appreciated feature and the built-in charging port has worked great. I never noticed any battery drainage when the light wasn’t in use, and for the amount of light it puts out, it has good run times.

The head is also protected by raised metal ridges to keep it from getting hit when dropped or abused. While the body of the MH25Pro is perfect for an everyday carry option, the head is a bit larger than I would prefer. It flares out and has a diameter of approximately 1.5 inches. This still can easily fit into my pocket, and I spent multiple nights out hiking with it without issue, but it is a little larger than I would typically prefer. However, due to the performance, I still found the benefits outweighed the cons.

Durability

Crafted from an aluminum alloy and enhanced with a hard-anodized finish (HA III), the MH25Pro stands up against the challenges of outdoor adventures. It holds an IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating, enabling submersion up to 2 meters while exhibiting durability against falls from a height of 1 meter. Additionally, the optical lenses are fortified with a double-sided scratch-resistant coating, ensuring the clarity of the beam prevails even in demanding conditions.
